We don’t normally do weddings, but when presented with the possibility of shooting our niece/cousin’s wedding there was no way we were going to say no.  The wedding was beautiful, the couple gorgeous (I’m biased, but it’s true), and everything about their special day was perfect.  Angie and Eddie are one of those couples that you know were destined to be together.  We are so happy to welcome Eddie into the family.  We hope you’re both enjoying your time in the Rockies.  Thank you so much for having faith in us. Here’s to your sneak peek and FOREVER:

We had a recent opportunity to shoot Blake for an indoor senior session.  We got so lucky!  Not only was he easy to photograph, he is one of those seniors who has it all together;  good looks, sports orientated and college bound.  Mom and Dad you did a great job!   I wish my niece lived closer so I could hook them up.   Blake, we’re excited about your snow shoot.  Hope you like your sneak peek:

Who are we?

In the post below, I made reference of the fact that the baby’s dad knew my brother.  This got me thinking about the time one of our clients walked into my home studio,  looked at me and said “I know you”.  She also knew one of my brothers.  D and I were talking about it and I remarked that if you graduated from a Taylor school anytime during the 80’s, chances are you would know my family.  So we decided to make a game out of it.  Here’s the hints:  We are a large Catholic family with 8 children (6 boys, 2 girls), the youngest is a Taylor cop, the 2nd youngest is an Allen Park cop.  Our last name isn’t McGuckin (everyone knows them), we aren’t even Irish!   The question is:  what is my family’s last name?  If you’re correct, and you were planning on booking a session with us, we’ll throw in a free 8×10 ($15.00 value).  Email us at mdphotography@ymail.com with your answer!  If you need a few more hints, comment below…

We explain to new parents that a newborn shoot can take up to four hours and this case was no exception.  The results were well worth the time.  We love to capture newborns, the memories that are created are treasured forever.  This little guy was such the cuddler, I think part of the reason they were here for four hours is that I didn’t want to let him go.  His mom and dad are awesome people.  It’s such a small world, we found out dad went to school with our brother/uncle.  Adel, thanks for the meat (what is that spice-cinnamon?)  and cheese pies.  Those were awesome, you must have had a premonition that I would get drenched and that food would make it all okay!!

It’s been over a year since we’ve seen Abby.  She turned 5 and mom and dad brought her back to us for some special pictures.   Last we saw her, she  had hair down to her waist.  Mom cut many, many inches off, and donated it.  I love it when people do that!  The one thing about this beautiful little girl is that she is AMAZING in front of a camera.  Those eyes will follow the camera wherever it goes.  She can nail any pose the first time (except when you want her to look  serious).  Mom and dad, get the girl an agent!!

And another baby planner turns 1!    Anyone who follows our blog has to remember Caitlin just by looking at her beautiful eyes.  At six months this little one was crawling–amazing!!    Honestly I don’t know if we’ll ever see another bionic baby.   Thanks (in part) to her Auntie,  Caitlin is probably the best dressed baby I’ve ever seen.    And we just love, love, love the hats that her mommy coordinates with all of her outfits.  Lets go Etsying…

On the serious side, this wonderful family is leaving Michigan.  Unfortunately for Ang, they’re off to an even colder state.  We’ve been promised that when they come back for family trips, they’ll bring Caitlin back to us.  I hope so, I can’t wait to see her with some hair (is she gonna be a blond, brunette, red?).  Hopefully, we’ll keep you posted.

We consider Bradley our first baby planner.  Well the little guy turned 1!  It has been so fun to watch him grow, as said before it never ceases to amaze us how much a baby changes every three months.  Face it, a newborn is basically a “blob”, within one year’s time they are walking all over the place and into everything.  Gotta love the fact that we get to capture these changes with our camera.   We’re gonna miss our little buddy and hope to see him for the milestones…

Ryan came back to us for an indoor session as well as some outdoor fall pics.  I think mom was the one pushing for the outdoor one’s,  she kept pointing out every large  yellow tree she saw (I think it’s her favorite color).  Kim, you know we love ya when we pick on you.  Ryan had seriously injured his knee the evening before in a football game.  Poor guy put up with us making him walk all over the park and never even complained (thanks for putting up with us Ry).   Even given the limitations we had with “posing”, we still managed to get a lot of pics.  Here a few…

We had the pleasure of shooting Kayla for the second time this year.  As some of you may recall, we did a UofM shoot this past Fall. Her and her mother came to us for an indoor session.    These two are the type of people that make you feel like you have known them for a long time.  Once we stopped laughing, we were able to capture some great shots of Kayla.  She is the type of person that just glows for the camera.

We know it’s been a while.  Things have been insane!!  Finally got the holiday season over with (fun but crazy-now it’s back to business).  2009 brought us a lot of experience and with that experience we met so many great people.   We expect a great year and are so excited about 2010 and the chance to meet many more wonderful people.  Our website has been updated and we have many new things, ideas and hopes in store for this year.     But the biggest news to share are our newest babies.  We are so excited to introduce Niki and Lenny…..

That’s the picture (not a very good one)  I sent to D after I opened the box my UPS man brought me.  I was so excited, I laid out some pink fabric, grabbed a camera, shot this pic and had it emailed to D within 5 minutes of getting the box!   I took my excitement one step further.  When D got off work, she stopped by the house to pick the babies up.  I had them wrapped up in a receiving blanket with  a pacifier nestled between the lens and flash.  A pretty pink newborn hat topped it off.   I know I went overboard but they are very special to us (go ahead and call me sick).  We can’t wait to use them on anyone that wants us to!!  Enough bragging, time to get some pictures updated on the blog.  We have a few months worth to post and look for them all to be up within the next day or so.  Thank you for being patient with us.   I hope you all enjoy…
